SS23 has ceased to use PayPal as the payment gateway. Instead, we have created a registration platform for credit card payments. If you wish to register for the conference, there are two ways for paying registration fees:

The “Pay Later by Bank Transfer” button on the registration page of Ex Ordo
If you do your registration on Ex Ordo, you will only see a button of “Pay Later by Bank Transfer” now. Please click the button and wait for an invoice sending to your registered email address. Then you will see the above link for making credit card payments. We will enter your information into the Ex Ordo system once we receive your payments and information.
If you need to make a bank transfer, please email us at ss23@hku.hk and we will send you the bank details.
Fee structure
The following conference fees will be charged to cover partial cost of the online conference platform (licence), as well as dedicated administrative and IT staff.

Sociolinguists from countries with severe currency restrictions in precarious conditions; Sociolinguists in particularly adverse circumstances
Delegates seeking exemption from paying the registration fee are requested to send an email to ss23@hku.hk stating reasons and providing any supporting information.
Eligibility for waiver of registration fee: on application from delegates from low-/lower-middle income economies as defined by the World Bank.
All participants will have full access to pre-recorded papers and presentations; all live discussion sessions; plenary lectures; sponsored events; live chat; book of abstracts.

Refund Policy
Registration cancellations are eligible for a partial refund (50% of the amount paid) until 15 April 2021. After this date, no refunds will be possible.
